Three Ways to start your Fashion Brand.
Before embarking in product development, take a moment to consider how much time, money and effort you want to invest before you have something to show. Here are three options that may help you figure out where to start.
1. Retailer - Maybe you want to open a store, either virtual or brick and mortar. You can create a store that reflects your brand by curating items to your specific style. They don't have to be your designs, but the way you put them together can speak volumes. Color choices, style choices, accessories added to your store-- they can be Your Brand without having been created and made by you. This is the fastest way to get to Your Store. You'll need a retail certificate so that you can purchase items at wholesale for resale.
2. Private Label - If you want to have more input in the clothing or accessories' designs, and want a label on them that has Your Brand Name, consider private label services. A private label company already has the products developed, ready to make. You can give input on prints, colors, fabrics, and trims. And you get to put Your Label in them! This is faster than product development from your design, but still takes the time for items to be manufactured. It's an in-between option while you decide if you want to tackle product development.
3. Product Development - If you have designs of your own that you want built, or an invention, this is the route for you. Your designs are taken into reality. It's a much longer (and costlier) process, but if that's your heart's desire, put your ideas together and pick a few of the strongest ones to start with. You may want to start with items that aren't season specific, or terribly trendy, so that you can use them with different colors or prints moving forward.
